about
Sing The Months is the first single for a new series of short and sweet original learning tunes and lyric videos for early childhood called Little Wild Learning.
Claudia Robin Gunn was inspired to compose Sing The Months when she realised her teenage children still didn't remember the order of the months without googling it, though of course their birthday month was firmly embedded in their grasp! So this song is her effort to add to the early learning musical toolbox to help a new generation master this fundamental concept. Safe to say her teenagers now also have this committed to memory after hearing it on repeat in the home studio too!
Sing The Months weaves elements of the old nursery rhyme '30 days has September' into a memorable original composition reminiscent of playground chants with a tune that teaches the order of the months with a strong melody plus soaring harmonies and a counterpoint line in an folky acapella vocal arrangement for 3 voices.
With a vintage folk feel, like an appalachian found song that pays homage to Claudia's history of learning to sing in harmony with her sisters, Sing The Months is perfect for toddler and early childhood mat times, family folk playlists, and song collections relating to concepts of time and seasons.
Produced by Claudia Robin Gunn with mixing and mastering by Andrew Knopp at The Response.
lyrics
January, February, March, April, May, June, July and August
September, October, November, December
January, February, March, April, May, June, July and August
September, October, November, December
January, February, March, April, May, June, July and August
September, October, November, December
All the months I try to know
But I get them mixed up
So - here's a rhyme to simplify
Listen up and memorise
Descant - Thirty days has September /
Lead - Thirty days has September, April, June and November
Descant - All the rest have thirty one /
Lead - All the rest have thirty one - January, March I've just begun
May, July and August do, October, December too
Descant - Oh February we change /
Lead - But in February we change, February has 28
Then in leap years we've more time, February has 29
Descant - Every month I try to learn, oh my birthday month's the best /
Lead - Every month I try to learn, so I don't forget
But of course my birthday month's the one I'll learn the best
January, February, March, April, May, June, July and August
September, October, November, December
January, February, March, April, May, June, July and August
September, October, November ,December
January, February, March, April, May, June, July and August
September, October, November, December
Every month I try to learn, so I don't forget
But of course my birthday month's the one I'll learn the best
